TEEN YOGA CLASSES

For teens who identify as female or non-binary
Arlington, MA

Why choose yoga for your teen?

Why choose yoga for your teen? Research shows that our teens’ mental health is in crisis.

Our teens are struggling. Even before the pandemic, it was shown that “feelings of sadness and hopelessness…increased by about 40% among young people and since 2020, this has only increased."

Yoga, mindfulness & meditation have been shown to help teens emotionally, physically & mentally. And thanks to some well known celebrities endorsing yoga & meditation (LeBron James, Ellie Goulding, Britney Spears, Lea Michele, Pink, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Miley Cyrus, and SO many more!) yoga is now becoming more popular and acceptable amongst teens.

Here are just a few of the benefits of yoga & mindfulness for teens:

  • Body awareness (beneficial for sports)

  • Both manage the symptoms of stress & anxiety AND re-wire the brain

  • Fitness & physical health

  • Improve optimism

  • Improve focus & school performance

  • Improve self-esteem & body image

  • Encourage creativity

  • Develop discipline & self-regulation

  • Self-awareness

The weekly classes include a mixture of yoga flows, age appropriate meditations, community projects, gratitude work, and is a safe space to learn how to laugh at themselves again!

Teen yoga classes are suitable for all levels, no yoga experience necessary. All people are supported in the classes - from the confident to the shy, from the athletic to the non-athletic. Everyone is welcome

of teens are saying...

Thank you for another wonderful year of Teen Yoga. S always came home smiling and energized after your classes. My heart swelled when I saw that you had given each member of the class an award for the year (and a personal message alongside it!). As a parent, we hope that the people who teach our children know them as individuals and see them for who they are, and I really appreciate that you are one of those people in S's life.

A has enjoyed her time with you and the class so much! She really is in her teens and I was having trouble finding a space for her. Thanks to our friend we found you and she looked forward to your class every week. She loved it so much! Thank you for providing this space for teen girls - what a gift to the community you are.  So much gratitude to you!!!
